Vaccine Injury

Thanks to modern medical interventions, vaccines for children and adults have been able to significantly reduce serious and life-threatening disease. However, some children and adults have had major allergic reactions to vaccines, often without any warning. While relatively rare, vaccine injuries can be catastrophic when they occur.

The federal government has recognized the importance of vaccines, but are also aware that significant reactions and injuries can occur due to vaccines. The United States has established the National Vaccine Compensation Program, or VICP. Founded to provide compensation to those individuals who have suffered a vaccine injury, the VICP is a no-fault alternative to traditional civil litigation. Instead of time-consuming and arduous trials, the VICP provides compensation to qualified individuals thanks to a VICP Compensation Trust Fund tax levied on vaccines given throughout the country.

Vaccine injuries can vary in severity and presentation, but can include:

  • Anaphylaxis
  • Shoulder injury
  • Syncope
  • Encephalopathy
  • Chronic arthritis
  • Paralytic polio

You or your loved one may be eligible for compensation through the National Vaccine Compensation Program if you were injured due to a vaccine. There is an application process that includes an in-depth investigation and medical record review. The process can be overwhelming to take on by yourself.

Thanks to the parameters in place from the federal statute establishing the VICP, your attorney fees could be paid for through the organization.
